Research and Scholarly Activities

The Research & Education Department in the Behavioral Health Division of Bergen Regional Medical Center is dedicated towards helping establish the best treatment modalities for the psychiatric care of its patients. Under the direction of the Medical Director for Research & Education, Director of Clinical Research, and Senior Psychiatry Resident for Research, the Research & Education Department has carried out pharmaceutical industry sponsored clinical trials, investigator initiated clinical research, and independent research projects by psychiatry residents and medical students. As a requirement of the residency-training program, all residents must complete individual or small group research projects.

Our residents and medical students receive training on research topics including GCP principles and assistance with their research projects. They have received numerous awards and honors for their research projects, which have been presented as poster presentations and published in medical journals. All research is reviewed and approved by our local IRB, the IRB Committee of Bergen Regional Medical Center.
