The BRMC Acute Rehabilitation Department provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology services. Patients can be referred to any of these services by their physician. Once a physician has ordered the service, a qualified therapist will complete a through evaluation of strengths, limitations and rehabilitation potential. BRMC also has physiatrists (a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation) on staff who may access a patient's rehabilitation potential and needs.
The overall goal of rehabilitation services is to improve, increase or maintain each person's level of functioning and quality of life by assisting them with achieving his/her maximum potential is all aspects of daily living.
Treatment Procedures and Modalities
Bergen Regional is proud to offer Kinesio Taping as a rehabilitation treatment option. This procedure was made popular during the Olympics and utilizes a highly specialized elastic tape that has been proven to be helpful in reducing localized swelling associated with surgery, sports injuries, acute trauma, and lymphedema.
